From the 8th to 16th of October, we focus on the theme of Small Steps. NT Mental Health Week is a dedicated time for all Territorians to prioritise social and emotional wellbeing and reduce stigma associated with mental health.
Individual Wellbeing
Providing resources and tools for everyone to take proactive steps in managing their own mental health journey.
Community Resilience
Building stronger local networks to support each other through challenges and celebrate collective growth.
Cultural Connection
Honoring the strength found in cultural identity and traditional practices for social and emotional wellbeing.
The Theme
Looking after our social and emotional wellbeing can sometimes feel like a massive task. The theme of Small Steps reminds us that a series of small actions can contribute to positive mental health outcomes.Â

Small Steps can be taken almost anywhere. Whether that’s at home by yourself, in the workplace or part of a community group. We recognise that these steps will look different for everyone. Practical examples of small steps could look like:

-
Spending time away from your phone or tablet
-
Taking 5 minutes away from your deskÂ
-
Eating nutritious food that reminds you of home
-
Speaking with someone in your native language
-
Having a yarn with someone you trust about how you’re feeling
