NTMHC membership

The Northern Territory Mental Health Coalition is the peak body for non-government organisations in the Northern Territory who provide services to mental health consumers and their families. Its main role is to promote mental health through representing the interests of members and ensuring that consumers and carers are provided with quality mental health services.

As a member, you become part of a collective voice in the NT mental health sector, helping to ensure the future sustainability of mental health services, the community and the NTMHC.

Why become a member?

Advocacy and policy development

NTMHC consults with members and leaders from the NT mental health sector to discuss and plan for important initiatives and reform work impacting the future of the Territory’s mental health sector.

We consult with members on submissions to government and provide easy access for members to springboard from our advocacy work to collectively expand our sphere of influence.

We elevate the voice of people with lived experience as central to best practice frameworks and service delivery models.  We strongly support the emerging peer workforce as key to our future in providing effective services in local communities throughout the Territory.

Sector development services

The Coalition supports all initiatives that create and build professional networks and mental health communities of practice throughout the NT.

We partner with others to help you access professional development, skills building and training relevant to the needs of your organisation wherever you are situated.

We operate an NT training calendar which all members can access and contribute to.

We provide support for student placement pathways to grow skills, knowledge and employment pathways in the sector.

We promote member services on our website and social media, offering a public space to highlight member initiatives, programs, and successes.

Access to information and resources

Our members have access to information and alerts for all important events occurring in the sector including information on grants and funding opportunities, sector forums and conferences, and government policy and legislation.

We can direct you to multiple training platforms offering extensive opportunities to access professional development and resources in a variety of delivery formats including online, face to face, video, podcasts and webinar.

We can connect you to other members and relevant organisations to help grow collaboration and partnerships.

Raising awareness and removing stigma

NTMHC collaborates with community partners in hosting professional and community forums to eliminate stigma and support relationship building.

We promote lived experience leadership as crucial in policy planning and implementation.

We promote the central place of lived experience and peer work in effective service design, delivery, and evaluation.

We initiate and participate in anti-stigma campaigns and activities to support all Territorians to better understand mental health and wellbeing needs, for ourselves and for all others in the community.

Mental Health Week

Mental Health Week NT is an annual awareness initiative that promotes individual and community mental health and wellbeing, boosts awareness of mental illness, and celebrates the contributions of the community mental health sector.

Each year, the Coalition delivers the campaign across the NT, bringing people together through local events, conversations, activities and a Community Awards ceremony. The event is held during the month of October encompassing World Mental Health Day.
