Help shape the future of mental health inpatient care

Lived Experience NT has been engaged by NT Health to facilitate a series of forums to help inform how care is delivered in the new Mental Health Inpatient Unit at Royal Darwin Hospital.
Input is being sought from people with lived experience of mental health challenges, as well as families, carers and supporters who have experience with inpatient mental health services.
The forums will give participants the opportunity to share:
what helped during their inpatient experience.
what could have been better.
what they believe good inpatient mental health care should look like in the future.
Following the forums, Lived Experience NT will prepare a report summarising the experiences, ideas and recommendations shared by participants. This report will be provided to NT Health to help inform the future delivery of inpatient mental health care.
Consumer Forum
Date: Friday 7 August 2026
Time: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
Carer Forum
Date: Thursday 6 August 2026
Time: 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm
Both forums will be held at Harry's Place - 1 Willeroo Street, Tiwi.
A light meal and refreshments will be provided.
Participants will receive a contribution voucher in recognition of their time and lived experience.
